November 10th to 12th sees the first UK Pick Systems VAR Conference. The event promises to be a lively mix of informative business and technical presentations, workshops and social events. To be held in the relaxed and informal setting of Sherwood Forest Center Parcs, this should be a conference of great value to all Pick VARs, developers and end users.
At this stage somewhat in the spirit of "it'll be all right on the night" a D3-backed Internet administration system is being planned to support the conference, providing delegate e-mail addresses, internal messaging,a diary system and conference web-site.
Business speakers will include Peter Capmbell, an entrepreneur and managing director of Bells Associates who has a wealth of experience in business planning, on the importance of strategy; Nigel Fawcett of Maplins, the high street electronics store, addressing the thorny issue of cost of ownership; and Bob Junke presenting solution selling as an approach to business creation and sustained growth.
The specific needs of the technicial community will be addressed by presentatons and in-depth workshops and tutorials on D3 by technical representatives from the US and France led by Jean-Pierre Laisne, and a high-profile delegation from Pick Systems in California, including CEO George Olenik, Steve Cobb VP Sales, and JOhn Bramley VP engineering, will be available for discussions and one-to-ones.
The conference aims to be both informative and entertaining with a number of "light hearted" team events; however the primary aim is undoubtedly to provide an opportunity for delegates to mix and develop relationships with other players in the Pick arena, and to expand their horizons with the possibilities of the "New Pick".
Certain details of the conference are still being finalised and may be subject to change, but if you are one of the players November 10th to 12th should definitely be essential dates for your diary.
