- Sanderson Group plc have announced interim results for the half year
ended 31st March 1998, which show record pre-tax profits of £4.05 million,
up 16% on the equivalent period last year. Turnover and earnings per share
are also at record levels, despite exchange rate fluctuations.
- Glasgow-based Berkeley Computer Services Limited has announced three
new orders for its Masterlab suite. North Devon NHS Trust at Barnstaple and
Dundee Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust have both ordered full laboratory systems
across all disciplines, and the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, has ordered
a cytopathology system with supporting histopathology.
- Sherwood International has secured a major new contract to supply
its market-leading Amarta insurance solution to Sage Life, one of the top
ten South African insurance companies.
- Craystone Investments, Bolton-based specialist supplier of tape and
storage devices to the MultiValue market, has set up a website. Point your

- Modular Software has heeded user requests to be able to use the PicLan
Terminal Emulator with non-PicLan host systems running telnet over TCP/IP.
Telnet capability is now available as an option, either as a separate install
from the PicLan client install set, or as an activatable feature in the PLTW

- 4GL Computing of Dunfermline has ceased operations, by mutual consent
of the founding partners.
- Ardent Software is poised to complete the purchase of privately-held
metadata management startup company Dovetail Software Inc, for an undisclosed
sum.
- Sanderson Group plc has announced that it has agreed to acquire 51%
of the share capital of Management Software Limited, for an initial consideration
of £1.9 million. MSL is a major reseller for a number of leading software
houses including Microsoft, Novell, Borland, Computer Associates, Lotus, Adobe
and Dr Solomn's, and has a range fo clients in the corporate, health, education,
central and local government markets.
- Ardent Software's object technology division has taken another step
towards database independence with the introduction of the C++ Relational
Binding interface, allowing users to more easily exploit their C++ data with
any industry-standard relational database. In addition, the existing Java
Relational Binding is due to receive its ODMG certification shortly
