General Automation continues its role in providing leading enterprise computing
solutions by announcing that it will distribute Cognos' data access, reporting
and analysis tools, PowerPlay and Impromptu. This will provide easier access
to value-add products for users of the Liberty/ODBC enterprise connectivity
product suite. Liberty/ODBC, developed by GA's subsidiary Liberty Integration
Software, allows Windows ODBC-enabled applications seamless and dynamic access
to MultiValue databases. "Distribution of these new products, plus other products
and services to be announced soon, will continue to strengthen GA's financial
condition for the future," said Jane Christie, president and CEO. "Our customers
are demanding faster, easier methods of analyzing the large volumes of data
currently stored in their MultiValue databases, and Cognos products are becoming
extremely popular and practical tools to do this," said Judi Uttal, vice president
of marketing at GA. "Because Cognos' PowerPlay and Impromptu have grown to become
an integral component for uses of the Liberty/ODBC solution, we see this as
both a benefit and an opportunity to offer the Cognos products directly through
our worldwide reseller channel." Cognos with Liberty/ODBC delivers the MultiValue
enterprise data to those managers who need meaningful information to make critical,
timely business decisions. Liberty uses Cognos' integrated query, reporting
and on-line analytical (OLAP) tools as part of its enterprise connectivity suite.
Cognos PowerPlay and Impromptu are available immediately through GA's reseller
channel.
