Pick Systems announces certification of System Builder, SB+ and SBClient for D3

Pick Systems has announced an agreement in which Ardent's cross-platform, rapid application development environment will be fully certified to run on Pick Systems latest-generation database management system (DBMS).

This includes Ardent Software's System Builder Plus (SB+) Server, a 4GL environment for host-based and client/server development; SBClient, a second component of the client/server solution that brings Graphical User Interface (GUI) features to host-based applications; and System Builder (SB) v5.1, its established GUI environment. These will be certified to run on Pick Systems' D3 which is available for IBM AIX, SCO OpenServer, Hewlett Packard UX, and Red Hat Linux in addition to Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95 operating environments.

"This agreement is consistent with Pick Systems' ongoing commitment to ensuring that our product offerings are open systems compliant," said Ted Ellison, vice president marketing of Pick Systems. "SB and SB+ provide very powerful development environments and now companies who utilize these tools will be able to use D3 as their database of choice."

"This agreement with Pick Systems is in line with our open tools strategy to provide developers with their choice of deployment," said Ralph Breslauer, vice president of product marketing at Ardent Software. "In addition, it offers Ardent's current SB+ users a smooth migration path from the Advanced Pick legacy application to Pick Systems' latest-generation D3 DBMS."

"Our value-added resellers are our business partners, and we strive to offer them the best products, services and support we can in order to ensure their success, and that of the end user," concluded Ellison.
