Australian crane giant Electruck Pty Ltd have been working closely with computer solutions specialist Capitol Business Services Ltd to develop a brand new computerised control system, UNITRACK-C, to accompany the installation of a new gantry crane for a customer in Hong Kong.
The Sydney-based supplier, renowned for supplying crane structures, attachments and components to ports and container yards around the world, approached Capitol to develop for them a custom-made container yard management system.
UNITRACK-C gives the user complete control: booking containers in, allocating tasks and providing extensive reports on movements, jobs and audits. hrough a terminal in his cab linked to th master computer, the crane driver is able to receive instructions and confirm when tasks are completed. The system also features a graphical yard layout and configuration module, allowing the user to view the yard, select a container stack and zoom in on a particular container for more detail.
Barry Green, General Manager of Capitols Australian division, Capitol Business Services Pty Ltd, commented: We originally agreed to customise the container module from our port control system, UNITRACK-P. However, as we began to work more closely with Electruck it became apparent that a whole new system was required. we therefore sat down and developed UNITRACK-C specifically around their needs.
