Binary Star announces Powernet WASP programs

Binary Star Development Corporation has announced rollout plans for multiple e-service models.

According to company spokesperson, Bob Schaefer, their greatest growth over the last 12 months has been with Internet based applications. They decided to create a separate operating division that will act as a WASP, or Web Applications Service Provider, specializing in targeted vertical markets. During the last 12 months they have been quietly working on applications which they will be hosting on the Internet as a service bureau.

While the service bureau concept is not new, the reasons for re-adopting that model are. Traditionally, the problem which put most of the service bureaus out of business was the fact that their applications were difficult to enhance, time consuming to modify and very expensive to maintain. According to chief architect, Harvey Rodstein: “Our application model is based on the Nucleus Application Environment, which manages the database rules and ensures that standards are followed.” Since the rule-sets are developed in their native database environment, the applications are very easy to manage and support.

As part of their strategy, Binary Star will initially offer three service bureau models to their clients - Full-Serve, Hand-holding and Hands-off. The Full-serve model will provide complete turnkey Internet Application Systems with 7 x 24 support and a complete range of Data Management services including the care and feeding of HOST systems, and security firewalls.

The Hand-holding model is a safe and secure way for organizations which have their own applications, and need to create a web presence with timely information. It was designed for those businesses that do not have the time, the expertise or the staff to implement and support an Internet solution. Essentially, the hand-holding model will upload data from the client’s host when appropriate, and make it available on the Internet on the Binary Star servers, behind their firewall. As Internet requests are processed, the StarSitePower.net server sends transactions back to the client’s host system to be further processed as leads, orders or customer service issues on the client’s host system.

In the Hands-off model, the client will have complete control over all Internet applications and Binary Star will merely provide the StarSitePower.net technology and technical support required to web-enable their applications.

The PowerNet WASP division will focus on providing full service Internet applications, site design, graphic development and data hosting at their Blue Lake facility in Boca Raton Florida.
