GA expands Australian operation

General Automation has announced that its subsidiary, General Automation Pty, Ltd, headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, has completed the acquisition of DLM, a networking specialist company.

The acquisition provides General Automation’s Australian operation with enhanced computer network expertise and consulting services, and increases its Microsoft skill sets with strategic support for LANs (local area networks) using Microsoft server technology.

The acquisition provides General Automation Pty, Ltd with significant new customers including the Victoria Police Force in Melbourne and the National Australia Bank, the country’s second-largest financial institution. One of the region’s primary sources of Cisco hardware, DLM provides LANs, WANs (wide area networks) and network fault diagnosis to major network installations throughout Australia.

“The move towards e-business with decentralised PC and server environments is increasing the significance of networking and related professional services, “ said Jane Christie, General Automation President and CEO. “The acquisition of DLM plants a deeper stake in our goal to provide the products and professional services our customers need to succeed in the Web-enabled, network-driven business economy.”

General Automation’s business strategy is founded on providing enterprise-wide business computing solutions. DLM’s consulting staff and expertise in network design and professional services will be integrated into the full-service offerings of General Automation’s Australian subsidiary through its two offices in Melbourne and Sydney.

“As our customers find themselves heading towards bigger, more complex network environments, they’ve begun to look to general Automation to supply the initial network design, required equipment and on-site consulting,” said Bill Cruthers, managing director, General Automation Pty Ltd.

“DLM’s unique network capacities completes our service offerings, strengthens our role as a Microsoft Solution Provider, and sets the stage for future growth as an enterprise-wide business solutions provider.”
