Pixel announces HostAccess Gateway

Pixel USA, Inc. has announced HOSTACCESS Gateway, a brand new product that is a service that runs under Windows NT.

With Gateway, the Terminal Emulation process run as a multi user application entirely on the NT server. This enables host application screens to be delivered to many different thin client platforms and interfaces such as HOSTACCESS 2000, Active Server Pages (ASP), Web Browsers, Wireless and PDA devices as well as new Java Clients.

Now the client software doesn’t have to concern itself with any of the aspects of terminal emulation logic itself, the client software can deliver faster, friendlier and state of the art user interfaces in a fraction of the time it used to develop new front end applications.

Francis Carden, CEO of Pixel states: “Without doubt, and with the survival of legacy applications through the Y2K minefield IT managers and developers are looking for new ways to deliver these applications to their users or even directly to their customers.”

Francis also states, that with HOSTACCESS Gateway, “software developers can take their secure and accurate transactions and deliver them to any client device in a fraction of the time it would take to rewrite.”

With Gateway, automating the task of taking the data from existing and ‘proven’ legacy applications literally, right off the screen and delivering it to a WAP device or Web page is easy.

Pixel provide tools and help for developers to develop Active Server Page interfaces to their existing applications via HOSTACCESS Gateway, serving hundreds or even thousands of users on the Web.

HOSTACCESS Gateway comes with a free licence of Pixel’s new thin ActiveX client HOSTACCESS 2000. For users wanting powerful, state of the art terminal emulation today, with a low cost of ownership, HOSTACCESS 2000 can be automatically installed via a server or via the web to communicate with HOSTACCESS Gateway.

HOSTACCESS 2000 provides an AutoGUI capability to legacy applications. HOSTACCESS 2000 runs in a web browser or in a separate window, legacy applications are given new life with the most state of the art AutoGUI components on the market today.
