jBASE and the Baker's Dozen, and other stories

It’s a bakers dozen for jBASE in Local Government. A District Council in the south of England has become the 13th Local Government to move to jBASE. This brings the total number of seats over 3,000 and includes the largest councils in the country. The 13 sites use a myriad of operating systems including AIX, Solaris, LINUX and NT. All report financial savings as well as vastly improved productivity.

In other news since jBASE became part of the TEMENOS Group orders have come flooding in from enterprises as varied as Local Government, manufacturing and Banks. Also in the public sector jBASE is making an impact on the police with an initial order working in combination with existing Reality/X file structures through the much-acclaimed world-beating jEDI (multiple database interface) feature.

VARs are making an increasing impact with jBASE in sectors as varied as retail, motor distribution, and service. jBASE's "New deal for VARs" has proved to be a winner. With jBASE's partnership approach VARs are enhancing their solutions including for some the ability to ship their applications as ORACLE and/or DB2 applications and for one VAR the ability to ship on IBM S390!

In the Windows world jBASE happily announce immediate availability of jBASE Win2K and are already running live at several sites and have recently taken an order for a 150 user manufacturing operation in the south of England. jBASE customers are making extensive use of jBASE OBjEX which is proving to be highly productive in development and at run-time.

What these sites all have in common is the desire to retain what is valuable in their application software which, having been developed over a long period, accurately reflects the needs of their businesses. The arrival of jBASE has allowed them to continue with minimum change on a mainstream route interfacing with industry standard tools in the most convenient way.

jBASE have also announced the availability of two new products - jBASE Net Builder for the rapid development of thin client e-applications and jBITE as a direct replacement for System Builder.
