Northgate wins £5 million contract for London Congestion Charging

Northgate Information Solutions plc, has announced that it has won a contract to provide software for parts of the administration of Transport for London’s Congestion Charging Scheme. Northgate will work for the prime contractor, The Capita Group plc, to provide the software for the administration of CCS Penalty Charge Notices. The software will include interfaces with the DVLA and the Traffic Enforcement Centre. Over a period of 5 years, the contact is worth £5 million to Northgate. The system is expected to go live from February 17, 2003.

Northgate has been selected because of the company’s knowledge and experience of Notice Enforcement. Currently 40 police forces use Northgate’s notice enforcement systems across the UK. In addition, the company announces that it has been selected by the Home Office as sole software partner to supply its Penalty Notice Enforcement system for the 12 month trial in four UK police forces of the ‘Notices for Disorder’ scheme designed to help deal with minor disorder offences.

Chris Stone, Chief Executive of Northgate, said: “This announcement is great news for Northgate. The contract win further endorses Northgate as a primary supplier of software solutions to the public sector, and along with our forthcoming involvement in the ‘Notices for Disorder’ scheme, reinforces our position as the leading IT company in notice enforcement. This initiative, together with other recent central and local government announcements, means that this market is set to grow substantially and Northgate is well placed to take advantage of these opportunities.”
