- GA’s board of directors have unanimously elected President and CEO Jane
M Christie as Chairman of the Board. GA’s Chief Financial Officer Richard
Nance says: “Jane is one of the most effective CEOs with whom I have worked.”
- Pick Systems have announced the appointment of two new vice presidents.
Janet Crumpley, a 12-year Pick veteran, is the new VP of sales for North America,
and Mario Barrenechea, a former director of Informix, is named as VP of product
marketing and e-commerce.
Here in the UK, Pick Systems has recruited a top channel player to expand
its UK VAR network. Matthew Bruggen arrives from Micronetics, where he had
sole responsibility for the setup and success of their entire distribution
network in South East Asia.
- jBASE have saved the Millennium Tapestry by stepping in at the last minute
to sponsor it. This is a huge project involving 1.8 million children and adults
throughout the UK. Children from 1,702 schools have made a piece of tapestry
and the entire masterpiece is being joined to form a momentous show piece.
jBASE have also agreed to build and host a web site (http://www.millennium-tapestry.co.uk)
to be launched in October.
- Ardent Software has announced record financial results for the eighth consecutive
quarter. Total revenues for the final quarter of 1999 increased 42% to $49m,
with data warehouse revenues increasing by 268% to $22.1m.
Peter Gyenes, CEO of Ardent, said: “We are very pleased with the tremendous
growth we experienced in our data warehouse business during 1999.”
- Our web-watcher reports that Pick Systems (UK) website (http://www.pick.co.uk)
has recently been down for a facelift and that Sanderson (http://www.sanderson.com)
is sporting a slick new online look.
- MDIS Group plc has signed a memorandum of understanding for the sale of
its 69.5% equity interest in Glovia International LLC to Fujitsu Limited.
The transaction will generate cash proceeds of £2.6 million for MDIS on completion.
In addition, the company has made a 1 for 5 rights issue of over 46,500,000
additional ordinary shares at 45p per share to increase the company’s authorised
share capital.
- GA eXpress has announced that is has nearly 100 patent claims pending with
the US Patent and Trademark Office on its new XML technology, including its
eToolsTM product. The new development kit gives GA eXpress customers a path
to build an industry-compliant foundation for migrating, manipulating, moving
and gathering critical business information electronically using eXtensible
Markup Language (XML). Jane M Christie, CEO of GA eXpress stated: “XML is
the language of eBusiness... Our XML eTools product is the first in the indsutry
to enable companies that rely on MultiValue data to deploy secure, fast, reliable
eCommerce applications.”
- Sun Microsystems has appointed GA eXpress as a Global Solutions Partner.
